Description: The Georgian classic silent film "My Grandmother" will be presented by The Castro Theater, http://thecastrotheatre.com and the Pacific Film Archive, with The Beth Custer Ensemble, http://www.bethcuster.com performing a live original score at The Castro Theatre, 429 Castro Street, San Francisco, CA. The film is from 1929, directed by Kote Mikaberidze, was banned in the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1976 and is a fine example of early, eccentric, anarchistic Soviet cinema. A world class, Russian-American violinist from Minneapolis will joint to perform along with The Beth Custer Ensemble. Film subtitles are in Russian, and an actor will speak the English translation. Tickets are $12.
Also, there is a press screening tomorrow, November 7th at 11AM at the Castro Theater, which anyone affiliated with Baraban.Com is welcome to attend.
