Dear Mr. Samson, my fiance is bringing her children to America with her. Her oldest has completed two years of university education (Russian university). I would like to get him enrolled in a good University here (like UC Berkeley) because he is a very intelligent young man. What I would like to know is how to arrange it. Does the university charge him foreign student tuition or do they have special programs for immigrants? Thank you, Neal.

I do not know for certain. Check with the foreign student advisor of the university. Remeber, they will not be immigrants until the wife enters the US on a K-1 visa and then she and her husband applies for permanent residence and that will take about 8 months to be interviewed. Only when they are approved at the interview are they immigrants. Before that they are intending immigrants (applying for permanent residence). My feeling is that they will be forced to pay expensive tuition, but, once again, check with the foreign student advisor to be sure. Good Luck, ALLAN SAMSON
