Financial support threshold

In order to invite a fiancee to the States, one need to show the ability to financially support her. I wonder what threshold would be in terms of annual salary. Somebody told me, the minimum is $20,000. Is it true? or the figure is differnet?
Considering, there is not much to show besides the salary.
