California provides FREE prostate cancer treatment for low-income men with no or little health insurance through a program called IMPACT:
Improving Access, Counseling and Treatment for Californians with Prostate Cancer.
What Free Services Does IMPACT Provide?
Treatments for prostate cancer paid for by IMPACT include:
• Radical Prostatectomy
• External Beam Radiation Therapy
• Hormone Therapy
• Brachytherapy
• Watchful Waiting
• Chemotherapy
IMPACT Will:
• Pay for prostate cancer treatment for an initial 12 months.
• Provide you with the FREE services of a nurse case manager.
• Provide FREE nutrition counseling.
• Pay for short-term individual counseling for you and joint counseling for you and your spouse or partner.
Where Do I Go For FREE Treatment?
You can receive prostate cancer treatment from IMPACT at many hospitals and doctors offices throughout California; UCSF/SFGH are local IMPACT providers. IMPACT patients must use one of the doctors or hospitals that work with the Program.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the FREE treatment you must be a California man 18 years of age or older with no or little health insurance.
