Меня интересует мнение Целки (The Virgin) по поводу книги Дины Рубиной "Вот идет Мессия". Но если кто читал, было бы интересно услышать ваше мнение тоже.

Книга довольно старая (1999), но только недавно случайно попала мне в руки.

Almost, so far I like it.
Though it makes Israel for me less attractive to visit. Which is sad, but I think the lower expectation I gonna have, - the better experience I will get when finally visit it.

It is. The book is full of humor, I would say black humor, which is kinda mine favorite one.
The latest joke was:
"...Every decent newspaper publishes the time when we supposed to light candels in Saturday.... "Well in our paper we do not light candels ... we apply'em..."
In Russian: " В нашей редакции, был ответ, мы не зажигаем свечей, а их вставляем...."

Книга о современной израильской жизни. У меня возник вопрос, однако, - Израиль - религиозное государство (скажем как Саудовская Аравия) или гражданское?

Например, вынуждены ли все ученики в школе изучать Тору?

Об'язательны ли иудейские праздники для всех граждан?

Книга наполнена булгаковским юмором (и грустью).

I did not eat meat for 12 years, and was not a very happy person. At least have a chicken breast or something. Buy kosher chicken, they do not feel pain when they kill them.

65 is too far away from now, I cannot believe I will ever be that old.

Basically what I am trying to convey is the following:

1) Это преступление не признавать Холокост теперь во многих странах.

2) Это совсем не преступление не признавать гитлеровский геноцид против, например, цыган.

3) Это совсем не преступление не признавать турецкий геноцид против армянского народа.

Вопрос, - почему антисемитизм должен стоять особняком от ксенофобии?

Почему дело повернули так, что называться антисемитом - это жуткое преступление, а ксенофобом - даже как бы вполне нормально, можно даже как бы пренебрежительно ввернуть "в интеллигентной беседе" что-нибудь про "чурок" или "грязных арабов"...

Почему цыгане не получили ни одной немецкой марки в качестве компенсации?

Вот и получается, что если ты не еврей, - не дай бог тебе что-нибудь сказать, например, в защиту прав палестинцев, - тут же тебя в антисемиты зачислят... Вот и молчат гои, только евреи друг друга и клеймят антисемитами. Вот так и используется лейбл антисемитизма в борьбе против свободы слова.
